This winter, send your kids to the heart of wild India to learn about a host of wild animals that we have only been lucky to spot till now. Learn about Central India’s diversity in a region that connects the Himalayas to the Western Ghats – the Satpura hills. Learn about the flora of the region, the different uses of various plants, the insects that are key to the survival of the park, the animals that constitute the top of the food chain, and about man-animal conflict. Spend 4 days in Satpura and you will return with a grand sense of appreciation of nature.
Monday: 4th January 2016
Early on Monday morning, we will be leaving travelling out to Satpura. We would first take a train to Bhopal and then drive on from then.
On arrival we will check into the beautiful Reni Pani Jungle lodge. If there is still light, we will learn about camera trapping and set up camera traps in the buffer area of the Park.
This would be followed by dinner. An exciting day lies ahead.
Tuesday: 5th January 2016
A day filled with activities! This morning we will do an early morning walking safari through the jungle understanding the forest cover, and the importance of Panchmarhi Biosphere Reserve. We will also have a chance to get a closer look at the smaller things in the forest like butterflies, insects, trees, plants and tracks and signs.
In the second half, we will proceed towards our campsite and set up our camp under the guidance of Reni Pani’s naturalists. After the camp is set up we will go for a night safari in the buffer trying to view nocturnal wildlife. Keep your ears pricked for alarm calls that may signal a leopard!
We would spend the night in tents inside the jungle.
Wednesday: 6th January 2016

After brunch, we will return to the lodge. During the second half we will visit forest villages and interact with locals understanding human-animal conflict. In the evening, there will be a feedback session listing challenges and possible solutions. We will also see the results of the camera trapping before dinner.
