Akzo-Nobel’s HR program is quite detailed. Part of the process of this Multi-National Corporation is to educate its employees about the real aspects of each country.
India, having been the growth story that it has, posed quite a few questions. The team from Akzo-Nobel wanted to explore these questions. A group of 40 of the employees would be arriving and they would like to see the underbelly of India.
The group was divided into 4 with each sub-group arriving at a specified metro. Each subgroup consisted of 5 couples. Each couple would go and observe a different project that was taking place. While some would see the 6-sigma rated Dabbawalas (lunch delivery men), the other other would see NGOs rehabilitating those who live on the streets and a third couple might see the sculptors behind the biggest festival in Kolkata. Everyone would be travelling by local transport in each city before converging at a jungle in Satpura where they would hike for 2 days and have their leadership programs simultaneously.
