The village of Nagore is the burial place of the revered Muslim saint, Hazat Meeras Sultan Syed Shahabdul Hameed (1419 – 1570); also known as Hazat Mian. The saint is said to have treated and cured a child of the Nayak King, Shevappa Nayaka. In response the king granted an area of land at Nagore to the saint. The dargah (tomb), with its beautiful domed archs, walkways and minarets, is now an important pilgrimage center, particularly for Musilms, but also for people of all faiths.
